Mentoring & Education

Alongside the activism, I have spent over thirty years as an educator and mentor across the arts and creative industries — with a particular commitment to opening pathways for care-experienced people.

I have lectured at seven universities, including Cardiff and Bath Spa, and worked in community media at Four Corners in east London and Knowle West Media Centre in Bristol. I have taught in schools, prisons, bail hostels, foster placements and children’s homes, and I assess film and television submissions for Coimisún na Meán in Ireland and for the European Union production fund. My doctoral research is on looked-after young people and the media.

I believe care-experienced people should be granted protected characteristics, so that positive action can bring greater opportunity to our community. Throughout my work in the media I have actively sought out and supported care-experienced people into the industry.
